This thesis examines the impact of migration on economic development and native labour market outcomes. In three distinct essays, we make use of applied econometric methods to examine the consequences of forced out-migration on the development of townships in Hungary, the cross-occupational impact of immigration on UK native wages, and an in-depth review of common measurements of migration found in the literature. Our findings are intended to contribute to the wider migration policy debateusing historical and contemporary evidence.
