Abstract

This review was commissioned by the General Teaching Council Scotland in order to ascertain the extent to which the workforce in Scotland draws from the whole community and, where sections of the community are significantly under- or overrepresented, to consider what is known about the reasons for this, both in Scotland and elsewhere. The research team was also encouraged to consider what steps might be taken to develop good practice in supporting the development of a fully representative teaching profession.
