Abstract
The vibrational spectra of Na2SnEDTA·2H2O and Na2PbEDTA·2H2O in solution, and as solids, suggest that the species present in the two phases are essentially similar. The spectra can be assigned on the basis of a C2υψ-heptaco-ordinate arrangement about the metal. Comparison with the vibrational spectra of binuclear tin and lead complexes suggests that Pb2EDTA has a similar structure to that established for Sn2EDTA·2H2O, but with slight changes in bond distances.
