Abstract
'Research oriented action research' (RO-AR) is a research approach in which the researcher actively intervenes in organizational situations with an intent to generate change. It is similar to: ethnography in that it is concerned with building theory from "naturally occurring data"; case study research in that it draws generalized theory from small samples; and, grounded theory in that the conceptual output is developed inductively from the data. This lecture / workshop will focus on issues of principle and practice related to the development of rigourous, practice oriented theory in this context. An analysis process known as the Interpretive Clustering Approach will be introduced.
