Abstract
The chapter provides an overview of the Scottish Government policies (A Policy on Architecture for Scotland; Designing Places; Designing Streets: A policy statement for Scotland) related to the improvement of the planning and design of the built environment; the responsibilities of the relevant key agencies such as Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Historic Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Water, Transport Scotland, Architecture and Design Scotland; and of the roles of industry associations such as Homes for Scotland, Scottish Property Federation and Scottish Renewables.
