Abstract

Two-wavelength switching of a signal beam by a control signal at a different wavelength is demonstrated for the first time in a 1550nm vertical cavity semiconductor optical amplifier (VCSOA). This result offers promise for the use of VCSOAs in all-optical switching/routing applications.
