Abstract

Efforts within our laboratory have focused towards the synthesis of Agariblazeispirol C, 1, which was recently isolated from the cultured mycelia of Agaricus blazei. Our proposed pathway for gaining access to Agariblazeispirol C centres on the strategic employment of metal-mediated cyclisation chemistry. Specifically, an intramolecular Pauson-Khand reaction (PKR) will be used to construct the C/D ring section of the natural target, and a novel intramolecular Heck reaction will establish the key all carbon quaternary centre between rings B and C.
