Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing global concern, significantly impacting on morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).[1-4] Consequently, rapidly becoming the next pandemic if key drivers are not addressed.[5] A recognised major driver of AMR in LMICs is the excessive use of antibiotics in ambulatory care where antibiotic consumption can account for up to 95% of total antibiotic use in humans.[6,7]
