The Private Rented Sector as a Social Determinant of Health: Analysis of Participatory Systems Mapping With Landlords and Tenants

Research output: Book/ReportPolicy Briefing/Paper

Abstract

This report describes the findings and analysis of participatory systems mapping workshops carried out with tenants and landlords from the Private Rented Sector (PRS) in England. The aim of this work was to support the redrafting and implementation of a local authority housing strategy, by identifying key aspects of the housing system that need to change to better support more vulnerable households in the PRS. All tenants and landlords were from the same local area, which has been anonymised at the request of the local authority. We also sought to contribute new research evidence on how the PRS might better underpin good health outcomes for those living in the sector. This work was carried out as part of the SIPHER Consortium, a collaboration between policy makers and academic researchers from across the UK.
