N2 - Vicarious trauma is recognised as a potential consequence of supporting clients with trauma. Research into vicarious trauma, its impact on professionals and the consequences for clients has been limited to date, however, strategies have been developed to assist in identifying, preventing and managing symptoms. To date these strategies are not easily applicable to the residential child care setting, despite residential care staff working alongside young people with complex trauma.
