Abstract
In this paper we examine the industrial destinations of Scottish school leavers over recent years. We use data from the biennial school leavers surveys conducted by the Centre for Educational Sociology (CES) at the University of Edinburgh. In due course the survey data will be used for a more detailed analysis of trends in the youth labour market, especially when data on the full sample covered in the most recent surveys are available. However, the issues are timely, and the data currently available are more than adequate for an indication of the general patterns of change in recent years.
