Synthesis and electropolymerisation of thiophene functionalised fluorenes

Abstract

The preparation of a terthiophene system is reported, the monomer is linked to a strongly electron-withdrawing fluorene unit via a conjugated heterocyclic bridge and readily polymerises under electrochemical conditions: to give: the corresponding poly(thiophene).
