Abstract

We perform a fully coupled three-dimensional numerical calculation of superfluid vortices and normal fluid to study finite temperature effects of vortex reconnections. We find that, by inducing Kelvin waves on the superfluid filaments, reconnections greatly increase the viscous dissipation of the normal fluid.
