Abstract
STEM on a shoestring is a set of resources created to support the public engagement efforts of the EPSRC & MRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Optical Medical Imaging (OPTIMA) which is shared between the University of Edinburgh and the University of Strathclyde.
This activity is suitable for children aged 3 and above. It explains what filters do and how they absorb some wavelengths of light as demonstrated by sorting Smarties into different colours with and without filters.
