Abstract

Spatial and temporal resolution of photostimulated emission from II-VI laser samples were shown to reveal hidden mode structure. This work to date showed the effects of microscopic nonuniformities and implied that device, performance might be improved by refining uniformity, optimizing laser cavity length and using reflectively coated facets. Strong, reproducible mode structure was indeed observed when coated facets and small cavity lengths were applied in II-VI lasers.
