Speaking up for children

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Reviews some of the findings of the UK Children's Commissioners set out in their joint report to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, published on June 9, 2008. Highlights the findings relating to: (1) the treatment of children by the criminal justice system, where the Scottish system compares favourably to the English, and the effect of antisocial behaviour orders; (2) negative media stereotyping of children; and (3) discrimination against children, highlighting concerns over sexual orientation and disability discrimination within the education system.
