Abstract
Increasing the efficiency of the ship marine systems using multi-source energies is becoming essential to reduce the amount of fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. In this paper, a sensitivity analysis is performed to study the influence of various parameters of a steam Rankine cycle on its performance. The steam Rankine cycle is modeled in Aspen Plus, a commercial software used to simulate the performance of different types of power systems. The pump, boiler, turbine and condenser are the main parts of the Rankine cycle considered in this study. The exhaust gas of two four-stroke marine diesel engines is the main source of heat for the boiler. The performance of the system is evaluated based on the variation of the condenser pressure, feed pump outlet pressure, the mass flow rate of the working fluid and the outlet gas temperature to the ambient. This study opens the doors to optimize the performance of different marine waste heat recovery systems.
