Abstract
This study presents a time domain based approach that provides scalable rapidly re-configurable multicast operation with full multicast capability. In this study, the node design is easily achieved by an increase in the number of timeslots of optical time domain division multiplexing (OTDM) channel selector, with a corresponding switching window size at the receiver. A highly scalable series-parallel channel selector has been demonstrated with rapid re-configurability and low loss. Switching window sizes less than 3 ps have been achieved, making more than 100 multicast users at OC-48 data rate feasible.
