Abstract

This report describes the development and testing of a safety climate evaluation tool for use in community pharmacies. The final tool comprises 30 items within 5 factors: Leadership, Teamwork, Safety Systems, Communication and Working Conditions. Future direction includes using the tool as part of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme (SPSP) in Primary Care for Pharmacy, to promote the safe and effective use of medicines through promoting a positive safety climate within primary care pharmacy.
