Robustness of full order and restricted structure optimal control systems

A simple method for modifying and improving the robustness of LQG optimal controllers is considered. A sensitivity costing term is introduced into the cost index and a fictitious disturbance signal, which affects robustness margins, is discussed. The influence is somewhat different on full-order and restricted-structure designs, and this is explored. Finally, the effect of a coloured measurement noise model on the robustness of the solution is investigated.
