Abstract

The results of a 30 year long geodetic monitoring system of the Ladhon dam in southwest Greece were presented. The relationship between hydraulic loading and dam deformations was investigated using signal analysis techniques. Linear analysis of the available geodetic data for the Ladhon dam showed no obvious relationship between the deformations of the crest of the dam and the reservoir level, which necessitated the application of a signal processing technique. Using the Lomb normalized periodogram technique, it was found that the displacements of the crest of the dam and of the reservoir level have the same fundamental period, equal to 12 months, which indicated that the dam deformed in response to water pressure.
