Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to reflect on over 50 years of observation, engagement and practice of designing, implementing and monitoring tourism projects in developing countries. The focus of this activity was to use tourism to facilitate development objectives in these countries. Some definitional ambiguities are first discussed before tackling the apparent links between tourism and development, the identification of tourism projects, current issues, and the future of tourism in developing countries.
