Quality of Life & Work in Mauritius and Covid-19

Research output: Book/ReportOther report

Abstract

The COVID-19 (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2020 was passed by the Government of Mauritius in May 2020. Landmark changes were made to the Workers' Rights Act 2019 (thereafter WRA) which impacted both domestic and migrant workers. The hardest hit were workers in tourism and hospitality services, export-oriented manufacturing and the informal economy. Public policies are critical in providing an environment for the development of capabilities at work and life in general. In this report, we show findings from a Quality of Life and Work survey and interviews conducted from June 2021 to November 2021, during Covid-19 in Mauritius.
