Abstract

This letter reports on the evaluation of the performance of an optical current transducer (OCT) prior to commencement of a year-long engineering assessment, which is scheduled to take place within the British Short Circuit Testing Station. We report on the operation of automatic signal conditioning facility that has been implemented to compensate for deficiencies in the sensor performance associated with temperature variations and mechanical vibrations. Our trials indicate that protection class operation is feasible with the present system.
