Abstract

This paper aims to introduce the PreONA tool, a data pre-processing tool for marine systems sensor data. The PreONA tool is mainly constituted by three main modules: 1) data imputation, 2) outlier detection, 3) and operational states identification. These modules have been identified as the main stages that are usually implemented when dealing with marine systems sensor data. To provide evidence of how this tool can democratise the implementation of data pre-processing processes within the shipping industry, a case study is presented, in which a demo of the tool is introduced. Even though this tool is still under development, preliminary results demonstrate the potential that this tool has for addressing the current challenges within the shipping industry with regards to the utilisation of raw data, such as the detection and replacement of unreliable outcomes and the imputation of missing values.
