The ponderomotive force exerted by an arbitrary neutrino distribution in a background of electrons, including the contribution of the magnetic field, is derived. Scenarios where the presence of an ambient magnetic field can play an important role are discussed. The ponderomotive force is also rederived using a semi-classical approximation of the effective ν-e interaction Lagrangian.
