Abstract

Education and culture can be linked in a variety of ways. For example, culture can be understood as an enabling and limiting precondition and condition for educational processes, while, of course, those processes can, at the same time, be and can be understood as the driving force of a culture. In this way, the fabrication of mutual constraints forms a possible subject of historical, systematic or even comparative analyzes at different levels. This volume now chooses a specific focus in order to examine this conditional structure: The aim of the representations is to show that and how the connections between education and culture ultimately converge at the level of the individual person. Systematic and historical (case) studies will complement each other in order to clarify the central role of the person (in general) or of concrete historical personalities in the tension of education and culture.
