Abstract

Sociology is an important field of knowledge to creation and further developed of critical pedagogy. The aim of this paper is to offer a comparative analysis of the recent development of critical pedagogy in the Physical Education field. For that, it examines this trajectory in the light of two cognitive landscapes, separated by distance and language. On one hand, the Brazilian reality and, on the other hand, that which is represented by Anglophone literature, published in the scientific production of several countries, such as Australia, New Zealand/Aotearoa and USA. In methodological terms, important books and magazines published in the last three decades have been used or as a source, both in Brazil and in the English-speaking world. The results highlight similarities but, also, differences in the trajectory of critical pedagogy in both investigated environments.
