Abstract
Over the year to May 2006, employment increased by 7 thousand. The employment rate – as a percentage of the working age population – fell to 75.3 per cent, down 0.1 percentage points on the previous quarter. Over the year to May 2006, the employment rate was up by 0.1 per cent. Figure 1 provides an account of quarterly LFS employment over a four-year period from March to May 2006.
