Outside Diffracted: Lost in the Glasshouse

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

Abstract

I introduce the figure of ‘glasshouse’ as a lyric architecture for imagining forms of (hyper)mediation and exposure in the anthropocene. In the diffractive thought-space of the glasshouse, everything is subject to shatter or shimmer. While glass suggests containment, protection or display, it is also the window or mirroring portal to another world, beckoning the outside-in, inside-out. A poethics of surface, contact and visionary excess.
