Abstract
Despite some weakening of the Scottish economy relative to the UK in the first quarter of 2006 the growth of GVA in Scotland remains strong. Growth in the Scottish service sector during the first three months of the year slowed more than in the UK, but construction sector growth in Scotland remained strong and a recovery in manufacturing performance was apparent.
