Victoria Sutherland, Alexander McTier, Theocharis Kromydas

Research output: Working paper

Abstract

The Skills Investment Plan (SIP) for the Highlands and Islands was launched in October 2014. This sets out the region’s economic performance and key assets, the performance of the labour market, the demographic challenges the region faces, the skills issues facing employers within the region, projections about both the scale and type of future employment opportunities and the drivers underpinning these and an assessment of current education and training provision. This extensive and robust evidence base is used as the basis for a framework for future regional action on skills issues. Five key themes were identified as priorities for action with a range of specific interventions and activities identified for each
