Abstract

Cold [1] and ultracold [2] atomic clouds are emerging as new media to study self-organization under their interaction with light. An interesting feature of cold atoms is that they exhibit different mechanisms yielding an optical nonlinearity. It is thus possible, in the same experiment, to study and compare these various mechanisms [2].
