Abstract

The present Proceedings contains some of the materials from the “2009 ICTP Summer College on Plasma Physics” which was held at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy during the period 10–28 August 2009. The main focus of the scientific program was on plasma waves, instabilities and heating, charge particle acceleration by strong fields, turbulence and self-organization at multi-scales, strong coupling of flows and fields, coherent nonlinear structures, nonthermal particle and heat transport processes, and vortex theory. A selected number of papers in these areas appears in this book.
