Abstract
We present a diode-pumped Ti:sapphire laser with 2.9 W output power and M2 of 1.2 × 1.1. This is the highest output power reported for a near-TEM00 (M2≤1.2) diode-pumped Ti:sapphire. The laser is pumped by a commercially available diode-laser module designed for cutting and engraving applications, in a configuration that reduces the complexity of the optical setup relative to other diode-pumped systems.
