Abstract
The paper presents a multi-terminal dc transmission system based on innovative modular multilevel converter as feasible approach to address the reliability and fault ride through capabilities concern of the multi-terminal dc system, in addition, to reduced construction cost and power losses in converters stations. To demonstrate the reliability and fault ride through capabilities of the proposed system, Fig. 1, several scenarios such as, power redirections in case of dc faults and system behaviour under symmetrical and asymmetrical faults in the ac sides are considered. The validity of the proposed multi-terminal dc transmission scheme is confirmed through intensive computer simulation in Matlab-Simulink environment
