Model reduction of a signalling transduction pathway based on global sensitivity analysis

Abstract

A model reduction method based on global sensitivity analysis (GSA) is proposed in this paper and applied to the IκBα-NF-κB signalling transduction pathway network. This approach uses the modified Morris method to analyze the global parametric sensitivities. According to the results of global sensitivities, the number of the biological reactions is reduced by eliminating those reactions that are identified to be insensitive. Simulation results demonstrate that the output prediction of the simplified model is very close to that of the original model.
