Abstract
This chapter looks at the mental health and wellbeing of adults in Scotland and in the
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Board area. It addresses issues about
how we can measure the mental health and wellbeing of adults, which can also help us
to see if our policies are working. The chapter identifies local approaches to promote
positive mental health and well being, with a particular focus on reducing inequalities
across a range of population groups, preventing mental health problems including
suicide prevention and improving the quality of life of those experiencing mental health
problems.
