Abstract

The paper seeks to discuss the potential impact of managerialism on public libraries in the UK, and to suggest a potential methodology to investigate the reality of the situation based on previous works in the field. Proposes that managerialism in libraries and professional librarians are potentially bad fits, and that a broader understanding of the incompatibilities through proper research is necessary if a healthy future for the profession is to be ensured.
