Abstract

We study the linear and the nonlinear optical properties of ZnSe/ZnS superlattices. Reflection, photoluminescence and photoluminescence excitation spectra show the various heavy-hole excitons in this material. The luminescence decay times are in the ns region for narrow wells (<1 nm) and drop to some ten ps for wider wells (≥3 nm). Under high excitation an electron-hole plasma is formed.
