Abstract
A variety of spatio-temporal features in two transverse dimensions was experimentally observed in spatially extended degenerate continuous wave optical parametric oscillators (DOPO). This is possible when the complex spatio-temporal phenomena can move extremely close to the signal generation threshold if the pump field has a higher finesse than the signal field. A model of a phase matched broad area DOPO where both pump and signal fields are resonated in a cavity is considered.
