Low noise quantum optical amplification using an optical amplifier

Abstract

Perfect quantum optical amplification is forbidden. Either noise is added, or the amplification is not deterministic. Nondeterministic amplification is normally based on the quantum scissors device. Here we propose using a standard quantum optical amplifier combined with photon subtraction.
