N2 - This invention is related to the manufacturing of a Liposome Extruder to Produce Homogenous Unilamellar Liposomes in the Range of 20-400 nm. Liposomes are spherical vesicles with at least a lipid bilayer which have many applications such as enhancing drugs biocompatibility, reducing drugs toxicity and their side effects, carrying anticancer drugs and macromolecules (i.e. DNA and proteins), etc. Furthermore, liposomes have found many uses in transdermal delivery systems, cosmetics, food and agriculture industries to deliver nutrients and vitamins. Reverse phase evaporation and solvent injection are examples of the most commonly used methods for the preparation of the liposomes, where the liposomes produced by these methods have heterogeneous and non-uniform structures; hence, after preparation the liposomes by these methods subsequent processes like size reduction, homogenization and unilamellaration are needed. Considering the various applications of liposomes and shortages of conventional preparation methods, this device can be used to produce homogenous unilamellar liposomes in the range of 20-400 nm as well as liposomal suspensions homogenization. (International Patent Classification Code: A61K 127/9)
