Abstract

The Care Inspectorate is the regulator for care homes for children in Scotland. We are on a journey of change to ensure that The Promise is at the heart of the regulation and inspection of individual services for children. This article will outline our revised approach to what we look at when we are assessing services and why. It will also outline the main changes we have made to our key question 7 inspection
framework and the process we used to inform the changes. These key messages were shared in an online session in April 2024.
