Abstract
The interaction of bound multiple solitons generated by two orthogonally polarized high-amplitude pulses is experimentally studied in a strongly birefringent fiber. The results in the presence of strong birefringence show that the initial conditions rapidly evolve into solitonlike structures whose overall motion depends on a finite set of effective degrees of freedom over a long and finite length.
