Abstract

Reinforced concrete walls are well-known lateral resisting systems in seismic-prone regions. Their design procedure, according to the new performance-based design framework, requires thorough structural and damage analysis. Such analysis may easily become costly when it comes to complex structures. In the case of damage analysis, where the output is the fragility function, the possibility to replace the extensive computations with ready-made fragility curves sounds promising. In this study, we have developed the fragility functions for several cantilever RC walls. The walls had ten different variable parameters, including geometrical, material, reinforcement layout and loading properties. Nonlinear static analysis was performed on each wall and the performance limits according to FEMA356 were found on the pushover curves. Finally, the fragility functions were created and the influence of the axial load ratio on them was studied. The corresponding results are presented and discussed here.
