Abstract

Tips to develop students' experimental design skills without the need for practical chemistry. A new study presents a pedagogical approach involving reading texts and reviewing peers' experimental designs based on them. The study shows how the approach benefits students' scientific literacy and inquiry skills. Fraser Scott summarises the study, and explains how it provides an alternative teaching strategy for when there is not enough time or equipment to give students hands-on experiments.
