Abstract
Housing Values Pilot Study and analysis carried out by Architecture +Design Scotland, Professor Gordon Murray, the University of Strathclyde Urban Design Studies Unit and the landscape department at ESALA. In addition, to having an overarching view of the work of the UDSU team, Professor Gordon Murray contributed his essay on the Context of Home and Place, his Introduction and Summary of the Analysis of the Five Sites, and has provided an editorial role on the survey findings contained within the Case Studies. This report provides relevant evidence to inform planners, design professionals, developers and residents about the role of the design of the home and the neighbourhood. It evaluates five completed developments of owner-occupier housing in the central belt- Bo’ness, Crammond and central Edinburgh. Variable configurations of buildings, garden and parking design have been studied in depth. Variable approaches to the design of residential neighbourhood have also been studied, looking at street design, footpaths, cycle-ways, local parks and infrastructure.
The UDSU study “Form, Space and Networks Urban Analysis” was carried out by Coordinators Dr. Ombretta Romice, Prof. Sergio Porta, and research students team of Alessandra Feliciotti, Gordon Barbour, with the support of Jacob Dibble and Claire Hyland.
