Abstract

Grievance procedures refer to the process followed when an employee raises a grievance with an employer. Acas has developed a Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures (Acas, 2015). This provides “practical guidance to employers, employees and their representatives and sets out principles for handling disciplinary and grievance situations in the workplace”. Paragraph 1 of the Code states that grievances are “concerns, problems or complaints that employees raise with their employers”.
