N2 - For most of its existence spanning twenty years, the British Green Party has been singularly ineffectual electorally, never attracting 1-2% of the vote. But for a few brief months in 1989-1990, that changed dramatically, with the party receiving 14.9% of the vote in the 1989 European Elections. By 1992, however, the party’s poll standing had been reduced to its earlier position. This article discusses the rise and decline of the British Green party.
